About the Client

MD Honey is a company based in Brisbane that sells high-end 100% Australian honey. These range from Bush honey to a rare high-grade Manuka Honey.

1. Hexagonal Jar Labels

Overview

MD honey was after a label design to go on their high-grade Manuka Honey jars. MD honey wanted the label to reflect that this honey is liquid gold. The design had to work with their hexagonal jars to give the client a practical and visually compelling product.

Brief

MD Honey were after a high-end look and feel label to go onto their hexagonal honey jars. They were after a clean and crisp, simple design that used blacks and golds. Think of all the high-end scotch and cognac labels.

The Work

Using the bottle’s hexagonal design, we created a label that fits over the flat sides, focusing on white space for the front of the jars to keep the design looking clean. I kept in mind that the printed labels were being printed on a matte substance with a black background and the text in white with the focus points (logo, specific text values) in a gold foil.

2. Bush and Manuka Honey Jar Labels

Overview

MD Honey wanted a re-design of their current square jar labels.

Brief

MD Honey was after re-designing their current Manuka and bush honey jar labels to keep with the new designs for their high-grade honey jars. They wanted the labels to have a colour scheme differentiating each different grade of honey from the next. The colour scheme came from a metal colour scheme ( Platinum, gold, silver, bronze etc.).

The Work

I kept with the hexagon design and created a label for the five different types of honey with three different sizes.

3. Packaging Design

The Work

Using a line template from the packaging supplier, I was able to create a clean, crisp and simple design using the blacks, golds and white colours of the jar labels. Discussing with the packaging supplier the gold in the logo would become a foil gold.
